How beautiful you are under this light,
Your hair like silk upon my pillow,
Skin soft, lips like velvet –
How strange a night,
How welcome your light
Wandering back into my life.
How sweet your kiss, with your beard soft against
The pink of my lips – warmth;
Your skin upon mine,
Your body upon mine.
Ignite.
Ignite the light,
Under which you lie, so soft, so bright,
Your hair like silk upon my bedsheets,
Grey and white, just as they were the first time,
A gentle brown.
Lay your lips upon mine –
Your body upon mine.
How you never hurt, I don't know why –
How beautiful you are under this light,
Breathless, like I never thought I would be,
When I lay my eyes upon your face, sleeping,
Skin soft –
But no, not just skin, softness in your soul;
I see it too, so close, yet so far.
Oh, under this light, how sweet it is to lay my eyes
Upon this precious little life,
That in you resides.
